Helpline for posted migrant workers in the construction sector – Feasibility study
Since 2009, the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW) has been supporting posted and migrant workers through the information platform www.constructionworkers.eu. Furthermore, the trade union is actively involved in campaigns against social dumping and in favour of safe and fair working conditions in the construction sector. As part of these activities, which are co-funded by the European Commission, wmp consult carried out a feasibility study in 2025 and 2026. The Study examines the legal and practical feasibility of establishing a whistleblowing mechanism or ‘helpline’ for mobile construction workers in distress.
The study examines the operational viability of such a mechanism, including possible implementation scenarios, the roles of the parties involved, costs and funding options. Prepared by Eckhard Voss in close cooperation with the Brussels Secretariat and construction trade unions in sending and host countries, the study in English language is available on the website of the EFBWW.
